Bauer Pro Ball Senior Shin Guard vs Bauer Nexus N7000 Senior Shin Guard
Bauer has been around since 1927 and is one of the most recognized brands even among people who don’t play hockey. They are famous for having some of the highest quality equipment on the market.
Their most familiar lines of products are Nexus, Vapor, and Supreme. But those are not their only high-quality products. To show that their other products are also high quality we have compared the Bauer Pro Ball series shin guards with Bauer Nexus N7000 Shin Guard. Let’s see how they compare, Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard vs Bauer Nexus N7000 Shin Guard!
Even though both have ribbed protection to deflect direct hits the main difference is that the Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard series is one piece while Bauer Nexus N7000 Shin Guard is two piece design. The difference is also in the materials they use. While the first one has poly knee and shin shells the latter is made out of injected plastic which can be more durable.
Both have extended foam protection around the shell to provide protection for larger area, but the Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard series have a little extra dome protection for the knee joint whereas the Nexus N7000 Shin Guard doesn’t. They both have padded plastic inserts that protect the thigh, but the one on the Pro series is adjustable which is another plus. Another difference is that the Nexus has air holes on the shell which provide better airflow to ensure easier cooling and less sweating. The Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard series has segmented reinforced calf protection which is bendable so it ensures a better fit. The Bauer Nexus N7000 shin guard has medium density foam calf which wraps around the leg nicely and is lined with mesh liner too.
Both have mesh liner which provides airflow and comfort. The Bauer Nexus N7000 uses hydrophobic liner to make sure the liner dries quickly and also has better cushioning made of soft foam.
Despite lacking the design, the Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard series shin guard has a removable liner so it can be adjusted better and dried faster after the game. This is a valuable feature because it can be used for a long time without getting smelly.
Calf protection and straps
Double straps can be found on both products. The Bauer Nexus N7000 guard has the 1-inch elastic strap over behind knee and a 3-inch elastic strap over the calf. Both are secured with Velcro. The Bauer Pro Ball Shin Guard series also have a smaller elastic strap over behind knee, but it also has removable comfort pad, and a larger elastic strap over the calf.
The price of both shin guards is similar so that shouldn’t be the most important criteria when comparing them. Even though they are both advertised as pro level, the players agree that they are more suitable for intermediate or even beginners players. They are both very comfortable. The Bauer Nexus N7000 has a bit wider fit which is important for players with wider calfs.
The drawback of the Bauer Pro Ball series shin guard is that the Velcro wears easily if worn by a player with wide calfs. All in all, they are both a good choice if bought for casual games because they both provide a high level of protection and comfort. It is not easy choosing which one is better since they both have some feature the other one doesn’t.
